Melanic (black) form: very rare

Pronotum: white with black M-mark

Habitat: needled conifers
Host plant: needled conifers, particularly pines
Overwintering: in soil or leaf litter
Food: aphids

Other notes: Britain's largest ladybird. Will disperse from conifers in late summer when feeding up for winter.
